Refund Policy
Last updated: July 24, 2026
Effective: July 2026
1. Overview
Licences purchased through Opedd run directly between the publisher (the licensor and seller of record) and you, the buyer; Opedd Ltd administers refunds on the publisher's behalf as their disclosed agent. Under our Terms of Service, purchases are non-refundable except as required by law — the refund windows below are a goodwill policy we apply on top of that baseline, so you can buy with confidence. Your statutory rights (section 8) are never reduced by this policy.
When a purchase is refunded in full, the licence it paid for ends and content access stops.
2. Refund Windows by Licence Type
Eligibility depends on the licence type, how long ago you purchased, and whether you have accessed the licensed content:
| Licence type | Within 14 days | After 14 days |
|---|---|---|
| Single-article licence | Full refund if the content has not been accessed; no refund once accessed | No refund |
| Archive licence | Full refund if not accessed; pro-rated refund of the unused period if accessed | No refund |
| Enterprise one-time licence | Full refund if the content has not been accessed; no refund once accessed | No refund |
| Enterprise annual subscription | Full refund | Pro-rated refund of the unused subscription period |
| Metered (usage-based) subscription | Cancellation only — see section 3 | |
The 14-day window runs from the purchase timestamp. Pro-rated refunds are calculated on the remaining licence period: remaining days ÷ total days × price paid.
3. Metered Subscriptions
Metered charges bill you for content actually retrieved, so past metered usage cannot be refunded — once content has been delivered, that usage is legitimately billable. You can cancel a metered subscription at any time: cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, stops all future charges, and does not refund usage already billed.
4. Requesting a Refund
Request refunds from your buyer portal (your licences page), or programmatically via the refund API if you integrate with Opedd directly. You'll be asked for a reason (for example: content quality, accidental purchase, service unavailability, or a pricing issue). Eligible requests under section 2 are processed automatically; refunds are returned to your original payment method by Stripe, typically within 5–10 business days.
If you can't access your portal, email hello@opedd.com from your purchase email address.
5. Disputes & Escalation
If an automated refund decision goes against you, or your situation doesn't fit the standard windows, you can raise a dispute from the same portal. Disputes go to human review: we respond within 7 business days (Monday–Friday, excluding UK bank holidays) with either a refund or a written explanation. You can withdraw an open dispute at any time before review begins.
6. If a Publisher Revokes Content
Publishers may revoke licensed content. If that happens to a licence you hold, you are refunded automatically for the unused portion — regardless of the 14-day window or whether you accessed the content — and you'll receive notice with the details. Per our Terms of Service (section 6.6), revoked content must be deleted from your systems, including caches and retrieval indexes, within 30 days.
7. Card Chargebacks
If something looks wrong on your card statement, please contact us at hello@opedd.com before disputing the charge with your bank — most issues are resolved faster through the refund and dispute process above than through a chargeback.
8. Your Statutory Rights
Nothing in this policy limits rights you cannot waive. In particular, for consumers in the UK: where digital content is faulty, not as described, or unfit for a purpose you made known, your remedies under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply regardless of the windows above and regardless of whether you accessed the content. At checkout you consent to immediate supply of digital content and acknowledge that the statutory 14-day cooling-off right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 is lost once supply begins — the goodwill windows in section 2 exist to give you equivalent-or-better protection in practice.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time; changes apply prospectively to purchases made after the change. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version.
